Launching Summer 2025 — Aquatic Wellness

Dive Counseling and Wellness is proud to introduce Aquatic Wellness—a uniquely supportive, in-person service that combines clinical understanding with personalized water safety instruction. These sessions are thoughtfully crafted for individuals seeking to overcome fear of water, develop foundational swim skills, or gain confidence in aquatic environments. Whether you’re new to swimming or returning after past distressing experiences, you’ll be met with compassionate guidance from a licensed mental health professional who is also a seasoned swim instructor. Conducted in the privacy of your home or a peaceful *community pool, Aquatic Wellness offers a safe, empowering path toward physical confidence and emotional healing—one step, and one breath, at a time.

Aquatic Wellness: Therapeutic Swim Sessions

Led by Stephanie De La Garza, MS, Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and seasoned aquatic specialist, Aquatic Wellness is thoughtfully designed for individuals ages *three and up. While the foundation of each session remains rooted in water safety and essential swim skills, the experience extends far beyond the basics—offering a supportive, therapeutic space for emotional and personal development.

Clients are gently guided through:

Phobia Recovery — Trauma-informed approaches for individuals experiencing aquaphobia or residual distress around water, delivered with patience and care.

Emotional Regulation — Harnessing the water’s natural rhythm and gentle resistance to foster calm, grounding, and nervous system balance.

Mindful Movement — Encouraging presence, breath awareness, and somatic connection through intentional, guided aquatic engagement.

Confidence & Growth — Empowering both children and adults to cultivate self-trust, resilience, and a sense of personal mastery in and around water.

Who can benefit from Aquatic Wellness sessions?

These sessions are ideal for children, teens, or adults who:

• Have never learned to swim or feel unsafe in water

• Experience fear, panic, or discomfort near pools or open water

• Seek a gentle, emotionally supportive way to build water confidence

• Desire a holistic, mind-body experience for growth and healing

What to Expect?

Clients should arrive in appropriate swimwear; goggles are recommended but not required. All sessions integrate gentle therapeutic framing, including breathwork, somatic awareness, and personalized check-ins to support emotional regulation and growth.

*For children under the age of three, “Mommy & Me” style sessions may be available depending on scheduling and availability. These gentle, introductory sessions are designed to assess a child’s readiness and support parents in confidently introducing their little one to water. Typically, families can expect one to three sessions focused on early exposure, trust-building, and creating a positive foundation for future aquatic learning. While water familiarity is valuable at every stage, steady progress in skill development is more commonly observed after a child turns two. Individual rates apply.

*Travel is included for clients located within a 15-mile radius of Stephanie’s home base. Sessions may be held at approved community pools, provided that the client has confirmed guest access for instructor entry. Please note: community pool sessions are not available on major holidays due to anticipated crowding and reduced session privacy.
