Frequently asked questions.
1. Do you take insurance?
Currently, Dive Counseling and Wellness does not take insurance. Within 48 hours of submitting your contact request, you will be scheduled for a complimentary phone consultation. During this no-cost call, a clinician will connect with you to discuss the areas you’d like to focus on in therapy and your goals for the therapeutic process. This conversation will also cover fees, availability, and scheduling options. Feel free to bring up any questions you may have about counseling at this time.
2. What is your cancellation policy?
A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel a session ahead of the scheduled time. Cancellations may be arranged via phone or email. If a cancellation is made with less than 24 hours’ notice, or if there is a no-show, the full session fee will be applied.
3. What is your fee and how do I pay?
Sessions are 50 minutes in length and are billed at $75 per session. In certain situations, extended sessions may be suggested or requested based on your specific needs. Payment can be processed using a credit or debit card via “IvyPay,” a secure, HIPAA-compliant electronic payment method, either immediately following each session or through a card kept on file.
4. How long are session and how often do I meet with you?
Each session lasts 50 minutes, though longer sessions may be suggested or requested based on your needs. The frequency of sessions will depend on both your needs and availability. Initially, I recommend starting with weekly appointments, which can be adjusted to more frequent sessions or biweekly meetings, depending on your unique circumstances. Most clients engage in therapy for an average of 8 to 12 weeks, though this varies according to the complexity and intensity of their concerns.
5. What can I expect in the first session?
The initial session focuses on establishing our connection and familiarizing ourselves with one another. We will go over the practice consent forms, explore your counseling goals, and address any questions you may have. I encourage clients to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable to, allowing us to begin wherever you feel ready.
6. Who has access to my information?
Your information remains strictly confidential, accessible only to you, your clinician, and your clinicians’ professional supervisor (a requirement as an associate), including demographic details, documents, session notes, and payment records. However, there are certain circumstances in which disclosure may be required: if you request that your information be released, if a court mandates disclosure related to your care, or if concerns arise regarding your safety or the safety of others. Additionally, in the event that your clinician becomes incapacitated or passes away, a designated licensed professional has been appointed to manage your case, ensuring a seamless transition and uninterrupted support for your therapeutic journey.
7. What is your style or approach to therapy?
My approach to therapy is rooted in a deep respect for each individual’s unique identity and experiences, embracing a holistic perspective that honors the powerful connection between mind and body. I am committed to providing a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where clients from all backgrounds—including diverse cultural, LGBTQ+, and disability communities—feel understood and valued. My work integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help shift unhelpful thought patterns, self-awareness practices to explore thoughts and emotions, and solution-focused techniques for setting goals and achieving positive change. I also encourage movement as a healing practice, guiding clients to listen to their bodies and recognize how physical sensations often reflect emotional states. Through this compassionate, inclusive, and holistic approach, I support clients in building self-understanding and nurturing wellness in both mind and body.
8. How do I set up an appointment?
Arranging an appointment is simple. It starts with an initial consultation call with your clinician, allowing us to discuss your needs, ask questions, and schedule your first session. Future appointments will be coordinated directly with your clinician at the close of each session. To book a consultation call, please click the link below.
